Description
What is Sasol wax C80?
Sasol wax C80 is a high-purity, fully hydrogenated Fischer-Tropsch (FT) hard wax produced through synthetic gas-to-liquid synthesis. Characterized by its linear saturated alkane structure and narrow molecular weight distribution, exhibiting high crystallization, extreme hardness, a sharp melting profile, and low melt viscosity.
Because it is synthetically produced, it offers superior chemical purity, consistency, and thermal stability compared to conventional petroleum-derived paraffin or micro-crystalline waxes.
Primary Applications and Industry Uses
Hot-Melt Adhesives (HMA): Functions as a performance diluent and open-time modifier in packaging, labeling, woodworking, and bookbinding formulations. It reduces open time, speeds up set times, and optimizes low-temperature flexibility and ring-and-ball softening points.
Plastics & PVC Processing: Serves as an efficient external lubricant in rigid PVC extrusion and injection molding. It lowers melt friction, prevents metal sticking, and reduces processing torque without affecting mechanical strength.
Polishes & Protective Coatings: Imparts high scratch resistance, gloss retention, and surface slip in automotive care, floor polishes, metal coatings, and printing inks.
Master batches & Rubber Processing: Acts as a dispersing agent for pigments and fillers, improving color homogenizing and reducing compound viscosity during rubber compounding.
